I know. I'm asking about FFL. I just followed up his post. Question isn't for him but for legionnaires.

From what I have seen in videos and videos of a recent patrol in Mali NCOs are the backbone and lead patrols on the ground. There was a good 21 minute video recently with an Imbed Reporter on Patrol in Mali. An Italian Sergeant with a US Caporal were showcased as the patrol's leaders.

Watched that video some time ago. My question wasn't "Are the corpolars backbone of FFL?" but :
How common are NCOs like you in FFL? Stubbornness is (I think) feature typical for Serbians. Here many NCOs wouldn't accept any advice from those below them. They can even interpret that as attack on their authority. Is there similar NCOs in FFL? There is probably some of them, but or they majority or minority?
This is a behavior usually connected with insecurity and lack of self-confidence of person in question. I would expect that kind of behavior from young fut-fut rather than someone who spent 10-15 y in the Legion.
Or short : "How many of tend want to behave like dickheads?".
USMCORET or you trying to say that all of them are 100% professional and doing everything how it should be done?

You are right to a certain extent here. Even in the USMC there are assholes that are NCOs, SNCOs, and Officers. It is just the way it is, you are dealing with humanity and personalities here; however, One may have to respect the Rank but one does not have to respect the person. The cream of the crop will rise to the top and the Shit Bird 10% will be exposed and they will be eliminated. Now, is that 100 percent, no, but for the most part it is true.

Barkhane takes out 7 terrorists

In the night of 11 to 12 November, in the region of Gourma (Mali), a group of terrorists formally identified as such has been engaged by an element belonging to Opération “Barkhane”. The raid was carried out by troops airlifted in helicopters with support from a Reaper drone.
After warning shots by the French forces, insurgents heavily fired back with light individual and collective weapons. Heavy and light weapons as well as components used to make IEDs were seized. It is believed that the leader of the Gourma katiba, Almansour Ag Alkassam, is among the dead. The group is known for refusing direct confrontations as much as possible and preferring planting IEDs or mines along lines of communications. The main victims are civilians or Malian security Forces.

Warning shots are you kidding me? Shoot to kill or don't shoot at all, you give away your position.

The non armed Reaper MQ 9 observed, the airborne element fired warning shots, the jihadist group replied by firing back with light and heavy weapons. Different style of operating for sure.

A Reaper MQ 9 drone crashed in Burkina Faso.
Canada not to renew its présence in Mali as peace keepers (MINUSMA). They have 250 men and 8 helicopters.

To avoid a blue-on-blue I guess... In this sort of conflict, not always straightforward to differentiate between friends or foes.

Barkhane eliminates 30+ Jihadists in Mali
One week after a similar operation in the region of Gourma, elements of “Opération Barkhane” launched a raid in the region of Mopti (center of Mali), officially killing 30+ jihadists. A couple of days after the operation, the Malian Army confirmed that among the dead was katiba “Massina” commander, Hamadoun Kouffa, one of the main aids of Iyad ag Ghali, the leader of the alliance called GSIM (Groupe de Soutien à l'Islam et aux Musulmans, Islam and Muslims Support Group), an alliance of various pre existing movements like AQIM, Ansar Dine, Al-Mourabitoune, founded in March 2017.
In the attack, were employed Mirage 2000 jet fighters, attack helicopters (Tigre and Gazelle) and utility helicopters (Puma, Caracal or others I don't know), a C135 refueling plane and a Reaper drone.

Good video about operation Barkhane. The creator, CaspianReport, specializes in analyzes etc, and seems to have a quite good reputation.

May the “bricard-chef” rest in peace. The 2e Régiment de hussards is a light cavalry regiment specialised in deep field recce patrols and intelligence missions... It belongs to the Commandement du Renseignement (Intelligence Command) of the Army.
