2REG companies

#1
Hi all,

I would like to know the differences between 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th companies within 2REG. Do you have any say as for the company you are assigned after opting for 2REG? What are your choices, if any?

From what I gather you must have a few years under your belt in 1st-4th companies, and at least be a corporal, before they will look at you to move into different companies within the regiment (such as combat support)
Essentially If one wanted to join GCM, mountain commandos, SRIO sort of stuff, even though the chances are next to none, what would be the pathway there?

Do these mountain specialists mainly come from 2REG or 2REP?

Thanks for the help!

Mate why dont you tell us a bit more about yourself, or maybe introduce yourself before a barrage of questions.

From my limited understanding most GCM, DINOPS and GCP are at least in their second contract with at least 6-7 years under their belt. Its not a simple task, think 30 guys out of a 1000.
Best pathway? Get fit as hell and speak French fluently. That'll maybe give you an opportunity to ask to go to a specific regiment. Legion decides where they want you.

Well Legion 888? We're all waiting. :cautious: Ah, these kiwis.

On the subject of DINOPs GCP, mountain commandos etc. Although it is OK to be informed about these things, it's best not to mention them when you are interviewed in Aubagne. Ossie O described it as REP fever. Everyone wants to join the REP when they go to Aubagne. No point in telling me that you have asked about 2 REG.

You will be informed of the roles each regiment has in the legion and in their various Divisions during basic. Telling them in Aubagne that you want to join a specialist group before even being accepted, gives an air of someone naive. Which I am not suggesting you are.
