In the third photo, I see a young looking A/C Sabljic, later to become Lt Col, which underlines the point of how far can you get in the way of advancement in the Legion. Sgt Faggarazzi, Sgt Payet and most of all a Lt Bellot des Minières, who I owe my affectation to the 3rd Cie REP.

Little background for those who don't know. 'Belloch' later took over the company. I was attached to them to go to Djibouti to work in the company foyer in Arta. One day his regular driver was not there for some reason and the captain had to do a recce of a path to see if vehicles could use it. As is quite common he starts asking me about my Legion career. When I get to the part that I did a zodiac repairing course while at Arta Plage with the French Navy ... Well the rest is history.

Lt-Col Sabljic (on the far right of the photo?) is impressive. From Bosnia to the Legion, became an officer and in the end - had the honour to carry the hand of Cap Danjou on Camerone Day. A number of Anciens on this forum spoke highly of him.

1987. Kosovo (Yugoslavia). Orchestrated Man from the crowd : "They beat us!" (talking about Kosovo police made mainly by Albanians). Slobodan Milošević : Nobody can dare to beat you!.

It was really funny and ironic statement because during 90s police and other unofficial units beaten up people who were against Milošević on regular basis. :)
