Don Pedro was 2REI, but the REP went to Split on R&R since a legionnaire had family living there so finding lodging was easy and cheap
If you say so, I'll take your word on it. I can tell you that it was easy and cheap because tourists tend to avoid war inflicted areas.
And the entire southern par of RH is tourist area. In fact almost entire country is.

Those days guests were very scarce, soldiers were not. Prostitutes and gamble were available? In a war zone ? Next thing you will tell me that the black market flourished..
To be honest both Split and Rijeka were speared of significant damage, but saying that war didn't influence prices of accommodation in tourist areas...

So, if I remember correctly; you socialized with Arkan's crew in Slavonija while on front and then went to the coast for r&r; gambling and fornicating.
Like the song from a certain Bosnian says: "Eversince I can't stand tulips, Ajax and the Dutch...." You lot build yourself a quite a rep in the Balkans.

correct about Arkanin Erdut/Dalj but that was my first tour (aug 92 / nov92) that time i went on R and R to Novi Sad (also a hotel with casino and prostitutes inside, maybe that was the criteria in those days for me, cant remember
second tour 93 in Sarajevo went to Reijka but the war did not touched Istria, infact it was full of german tourists and in teh hotel, casino etc you could not pay wiith Dinars, only italian Lires, Deutsch Mark or dollars

There was a night club in Zagreb not far from where the UNPROFOR base would transit that had prozzies
(Dec 93) Our R. and R was one week in Metropole France
On my return....I was the only one to be selected by the Croate customs for further control... that's a another story

It's a good job that most of them are Muslim, otherwise what kind of Christmas would that be?
I guess that's their way to say thank you. You let them in your house and when you say that they have to temporarily go somewhere else so you can adapt their room for winter condition ... they decide to burn your house. I guess that's their way of saying thank you I don't understand this, but that is problem in me so I would need to take some political correctness classes to get better undressing of foreign culture.

This is big problem in my country now (In Bosnia to, don't know for Croatia...Perun?). EU giving our government money for every migrant registered here thinking they would stop them from coming to EU. That led our greedy government to allow more and more migrant in from south so more and more of them trying to go to EU because they (same as me) don't want to be here. In last year numbers of migrants here exploded. But officially there is only couple thousands of them. Which is total BS

The migrant put the rug into the corridor of the building and prepared for prayer, while the employee of camp unintentionally stepped on the rug during the control of that building because she could not pass without stepping on it. After that, the migrants rebelled and surrounded the worker, and forced her to kiss cloth
You can see her showing someone to stop filming because video could initiate totally unjustified hatred for migrants!
