Good men in every Army.. i could well imagine there are some hard bastards in the S African Army.Hmmmmm, its a local South African movie. Not sure if its out yet.
According to the South African government the recces don't exist. Unofficially there are 2 Recce units, the 4th Reconnaissance (Specialises in amphibious warfare)the 5th Reconnaissance (SpecialIsing in Land operations), their motto's are "Iron fist from the sea" and "we fear naught but God." Takes almost 2 years to be fully badged and operational, some years there are no successful candidates in selection. A recce holds the number 7 spot of longest sniper kill (2.1km in the DRC 2013).
On a side note the recces and 32 battalion were the only non racially segregated units in the Apartheid days with the SADF.
Does anyone notice the legion tattoo on Papillon's chest in the remake?? Hah, you don't say.. Interesting information, hate when they 'adapt' the story . I loved Hoffman and Newman version, looking forward to see the new movie.
The tat certainly looks like a guy in a Képi Blanc... but something about the figure's lips struck me as weirdly effeminate. So, I did some digging for a better image:Does anyone notice the legion tattoo on Papillon's chest in the remake?
Post Schitum: Let's split the difference and call her Miss (Frumpy) Képi Blanc, 1931The tat certainly looks like a guy in a Képi Blanc... but something about the figure's lips struck me as weirdly effeminate. So, I did some digging for a better image:View attachment 4485
... Now I'm unsure if the tattoo is supposed to depict just a particularly androgynous Legionnaire in a rather battered Képi, or a woman wearing a 1920's Cloche.
Should tell US some funny Stories JonnyThe Sgt Major in ‘it aint hot mum’ reminded me a lot of our Adjudant Chef Bethery in 2 REP in Algeria. There was his buglar by the name of Baches, usually known as Baccus, who liked his drinks a lot, and some times he would be strugling to blow the ‘light out’ tune in the evening after a long session in the foyer. Then we could hear Bethery shouting ‘shut up Baches’ on the top of his voice, and the whole regiment would burst out laughing.
War is not only doom and gloom and apocalypses. There are funny moments too, and those are the ones I most like to recollect in my memories of that time.
No Jonny never tried it...LOL. If it's anything homo in Nature i won't know !OK Sexpert,
By your handle I can assume that you have some knowledge of all things sexual in nature, but have you ever had sex with a cactus? I could tell you a story about that if you are interested and not too offended by sexual explotation of plants.
