The Health minister in Germany has decided that when you are declared "Brain Dead" you are automatically an organ spender. He has decided for you, now you can appeal if you don´t want to because people are starting to question, what is in fact Death and are you really dead when declared "Brain dead" ? This term used to declare someone dead and a possible organ spender has only been used i think since 1968. people have been declared Brain dead but have come back and survived. I am not against organ spending but should the Government even control your body? the video is in two parts.

I believe that donating ones organs post-mortum is the ethical choice. However, choice is the key word here. Meaning, I don't believe the government, any government, ought to have a say in that choice.

There are those who object to organ donation on religious grounds. In the interest of preserving religious and individual liberties, that should be respected. Particularly when we're talking about brain, and not clinical, death. The German government stepping in and harvesting the organs of citizens who have merely been declared brain dead is/would be an absolute trampling of the individual liberties of its citizens. In effect, they'd be acting as if they owned their citizens.

Sounds to me like there's some lampposts in Europe in want of some politicians swinging from them.

Oh well, I’m not too worried. I doubt anybody would be queuing up to get any of my leftover organs.

The Health Minister here is a clown. comes up with more and more absurd ideas. I do not think people should be "owned" by the Government. Less and less freedom of speech here. people are waiting longer and longer to see a specialist. another of his ideas was you don´t need to go and see a Doctor but can do it over a video chat like skype with a Doctor

but on a serious note.. there have been a few scandals here in Germany. Patients Laboratory readings manipulated and lists being changed to "select" patients to get an organ. This surgeon in the report was given not guilty because the judge decided that "morally" it was not correct what he is supposed to have done but they could not legally get him.

I would gladly leave my body to science, to let the young would be doctors cut me up and have a look. The only thing is I saw a video where some aspirants were taking the piss out of the deceased,
I used to have a donor card before coming to Thailand, when I realized how much importance they placed in money, I binned it.

I was thinking same. Taking my liver one will need full year just to get sober. :)

That's biggest problem with organ donation. You leave organs just for some old rich 80 y old... Take them in front of someone young who really need them. Knowing how things work in my country that scenario is pretty realistic. I guess Le petit Caporal's bad joke about Serbian organs on discount isn't that far from true. I mean it might be true in form he told it, but this also second way it can be true.

I'm going to be mummified, so if they want any of the organs like my brain, sure, have at it. But above all, my eyes, ears, mouth, nose, heart, and my 3 piece will stay with me 😁👌
