LPC has the right of it.

Thanksgiving is our (USA) most important Fall/Autumn holiday. It is essentially our Harvest festival; the one we most associate with this season. Spring is Easter, Summer's 4th of July/Independance Day, and Winter is Christmas. Those are your big 4.

They kind of fecked up the leaves, though. Leaves change color, and then fall. Green leaves falling looks odd; that's not autumn, that's Hurricane season. The leaves should have been orange.

BTW I never ate turkey that way. Have to try once. Here on holidays mainly pigs or lambs are mostly eaten.

They're actually not that flavorful; especially compared to pork or mutton. In fact, I prefer chicken. Turkey is sort of a bigger chicken that doesn't taste as good. I'd rather have pig or lamb, truly.

But. Turkeys are native to North America, so of course we eat them on Thanksgiving.

My maternal Aunt made the stuffing; her daughter roasted the turkey with rosemary and thyme. Those women can cook. Dad deep fried a turkey with Cajun seasoning; Stepmom made both seafood and chicken & sausage Gumbo, Mother roasted ham. We also had green beans (haricots), mac and cheese, candied yams, home made bread, Maque Choux (google it), cranberry sauce, 4kinds of pie (apple, pecan, sweet potato, pumpkin), and I don't know what all else. ...

If you ever visit the States, you should time your visit around Thanksgiving. It's fecking ridiculous.

Did you have some Indians in your house?
I don't know where to find Indian to successfully recreate real American Thanksgiving. I would go with next best thing, Gypsies.

You might recognize music from Borat. Its originally from this internacional affords winning movie made by Serbs and Romale. Those European festivals jury have some weird taste.

LOL. Ok, if you're looking for proper Native Americans in numbers, you have to go out west. Try Oklahoma, Arizona. New Mexico, Utah, Colorado, California, Alaska, Nevada, the Dakotas, Wyoming, Montana, Idaho, Washington State, all that stuff... Just generally west of the Mississippi River. Unhappily, the Eastern tribes were mostly driven West, annihilated, or assimilated.

I haven't checked, but I'd say that the turkey was originally native to Mexico.

Yes Yeah, that's it! I do mine a little differently; Golden hominy instead of sweet corn, green bell pepper instead of red (red is too sweet), I add celery and garlic, cayenne pepper instead of green chili, and I brown the trinity (bell pepper, onion celery) in rendered fat from pork sausage (Andouille) rather than butter; but yeah, that's Maque Choux, allright.

I remember this from my day as a junior in the Brit army. We travelled once down to Okehampton by train for a Ten Tours training session (to avoid convoy c@ck). One of the older hands had a ghetto blaster which he put on the full album or rather cassette as it was in those days.
Years later, I can still listen to Meat loaf, However, those constantly floating leaves are rather annoying.
