Second company but wich regiment? It was only a trailer. Terrain looks like the Salagou in the Hérault = 2 REI, 13 DBLE or 4 RE.

Is it not the Képi Blanc march? Dernière épreuve?
Yes, it looks like. And the title (“La fabrique d'un légionnaire”, meaning the making of a legionnaire) makes me believe it’s another documentary on Castelnaudary 4e RE.
Anyway, we shall see.

Just watched the documentary. Quite interesting actually.
• It opens with a CCH meeting at the airport a candidate coming from Tahiti, French Polynesia and escorting him to Fort de Nogent. This relates to previous posts about the Legion opening a recruiting post in Tahiti.
• We see also the new tent mounting test held at Aubagne, to check how candidates work as a group.
• Surprised to see that one of the interviewers is a female officer. Not sure if she’s a Legion officer or just seconded from another part of the French military.
• The documentary focuses on three candidates : a French, an American and a guy from Mauritius.
• The American is 34 yo and served a 7 year in prison sentence in the US for robbery. He says he was kicked out of his father’s house when he was 21. The guy is eventually selected and gets emotional when he receives his first contract, saying that it’s the first time he’s given an opportunity to redeem himself.
• The French gets some trouble, since the doctors noticed he has metal plates in his jaw (he admits in his interview that he’s often involved in fights). He also discloses that he was involved in an armed robbery case. His selection is delayed for further medical checks, but he’s finally accepted.
• The guy from Mauritius outright discloses that he’s married, with a daughter. This doesn’t seem to be a big issue to the female Lt who’s interviewing him, as he clearly says that he knows that he’ll be treated as a single man. His selection is also delayed for further medical checks (no details given) but he’s finally accepted.
Hope this gives a new insight of the selection process.

No, I don’t think so. In the documentary the American guy goes by the name of Stamper. It’s not specified whether it’s his real or Legion name.

Many thanks to @Surfguy for finding and sharing this video. Great insight and inspiration to wannabes like myself. I'm sure that the pre-selection/ selection wont be as gentle in the absence of cameras though.

No mate, in the Legion it is described as your first hurdle. Please note that until you have received your képi, you cannot mount the guard in camp. However out in the field is a different story all together. The final big march is the raid march which is designed to put into practice as much of the training as possible and of course... Marching :ROFLMAO:
