Hello!

I am a Canadian Citizen that has a dream of being a Legionnaire

I have grown weary of civilian life and wish to escape it.
No other option for me offers such intrigue, or a more efficient way to do so.

I will, of course, serve France and the Legion as dutifully as I can.

I could care less about my home country. (Canada)

My only concern is that I am quite attached to my family here, and would like to remain in contact with my parents on some level.
Surely the F.F.L. is comprised of human-beings, but do tell me if I am making an outrageous request.

Thank you, everyone, for your time.

To Legionnaires: Thank you very much for the time I know I don't deserve.

Welcome to the forum, and I would also like to forward that question.

Will you be able to remain in contact with family even just once in a while?

As okidoki has said, you both seemed to have missed the search function here.
Regardless, ill give you a hint to your questions:
There are a few serving Legionnaires on the forum who post pretty often :)

Welcome to the forum.

Thomasm 88,
There is one very esteemed Canadian citizen on this site.
In view of your parental and family affection; Don't join, forget it.
And yes, my name is not registered in green.
Bonne chance et je vous souhaite la bienvenue.

When you go and do your interview with gestapo do not give them any reason to think you are quite attached to your family. That will score you neg points, they wont want to take someone who will go crying back to mummy when training gets hard, but i'm sure you're not like that, you will get to contact people regularly.

You can have contact with your family, but it is unlikely to be in person. Being "quite" attached to family is not a good thing when you are a Legionnaire.
