Adultery is a crime? (am not married)

Does not matter, if she was and you are say serving in the US Military, you are going down. Best bet, cop a plea as soon as possible. Plainly state Sir, I will plead out to Non Judicial Punishment. Roll the dice and take it to Courts Martial if you want, but that brings a conviction and may be a Felony

You could still get charged; the two offenses don't cancel each other out. If your wife is a civilian, well, she's not subject to the UCMJ; strictly civilian law. If she's also military, then potentially both of you get fried.

At the risk of running this train slam off the rails; I've seen the latter happen. Basically, two female soldiers in the same squad--formerly friends-- got into a spat. Not sure what initially caused it, but basically both of them had so much dirt on each other that when the sh*t went down, it went nuclear. Errbody started snitching for everything. Like 7 people ended up going down for all types of stuff; adultery, sodomy, fraternization, conduct unbecoming, sexual assault, you name it.

But that's a story, among others, that should probably have their own thread. Maybe I'll start my own -- call it "Stupid Story Time", featuring Crawdad.

I hear when you screw up in the Legion, they confine you to the Legion prison for a few days. What is it like?
HERE’S JONNY

Oh well, a bit rough actually in my days (the 1950s). La pelote was on in the hottest time of the day in Algeria, the culprits shavenheaded, with swollen faces and black eyes from beatings in jail. The culprit was also carrying a heavy wooden log that he had to carry with him at all times. Then the sergeant in charge of a whistle would blow various exercises, like roule boule, crawl, run, or whatever. This exersise would usually take place during lunch time break so the rest of us could appreciate the spectacle and not contemplate doing something like that themselves.

By the way, this little story is from the instruction company in Mascara, not from the regiment.

In the Artillery if in jail it was the same but you carried a 155 mm Shell everywhere. Steel helmet on your head bulled up pure shiny Silver. Used to see them getting quick marched to lunch shells on their shoulders ..LOL

Instead of the wooden log, in our regiment it was the backpack with stones.
One pal of my platoon got six months Company discipline for hitting a lieutenant during roll call.

I doubt it what it was. I did a few months for an indiscretion during my youth (fighting, awol, escaping custody..) and by the time I got there MCTC was a joke (according to the old school).
But we all know their days were harder than ours. Like how my days were harder than the current lads. Swings and roundabouts.
Anyhow, I digress. I will try to teach you the best lesson I learned in the army. The real crime is getting caught.
Heed! :)

P.S. stay out the nick, you mongo

Hi Mark, I went to visit la section d'épreuve in Corte eerie place I can tell you. I found it on an out of the way track. There was no mistaking the area. To big iron gates with a legion flame and slaps of concrete (reminded me of headstones) with the insignia of regiments and companies painted on them. Their living quarters was the old round topped roofs used during the 2nd world war (I forget their name). Round painted stones bordered off the parade square with the remnants of the flag post. Gave me goose pimples looking around.

Was threatened with Brig time while I was in, got lucky and never had to go, but knew a dude who was there for 2 months. He just sat there, the whole damn time. Did nothing. It's like regular jail, but full of Marines, and you were allowed to smoke cigarettes. Sounds like pretty easy punishment. They got to work out, too (gotta keep the troops strong I guess)
