Are you me?
I'm 28 years old, 155 cms and 52 kg. And I work as the office superintendent at a Madrasah.
Only thing stopping me is that I don't have enough savings to travel to Paris.

James Russel,
2 years ago you said you would be going. That was with the same caveat that you are now presenting. I suspect that you are a dreamer.

Anyway- Good luck.:)

OK, Now we're talking.
Check the threads, and posts and stickies on how to get there. Be careful of Jet lag. If you can, you spend a the night in a hotel before hand. If you have any queries don't hesitate to state them. If need be, drop me a PM. We are after all neighbors! I'm living in Thailand and have been to your country. I've got a book/page marker to prove it. It has Malaysia written on it:ROFLMAO:

You have a sharp memory Chas. Alas! It's not as easy to travel to Europe from where I reside and my funds have limitations.

Update guys!

Just landed in CDG an hour ago and putting up a night near gare du nord before train to marseille tmr at 11am. Was hoping to see any legionnaires on patrol at CDG for photos bt there was none if not it wouldve been my first encounter in the flesh.

Feels good to be here in france hearing ppl speak french. Cherishing before the bad side of french in selection lol.

Cant believe this day has come! Excited yet nervous

Fantastic- go for it with all that you have got. I reckon you will be o.k.
Simply obey all orders with alacrity however mundane. Also don't get into arguments/fights.
Take some cigarettes with you as an ice breaker and also some loose change for vending machines,

Carpe Diem.

Keep your chin up and your head down! Another copyright phrase of mine. All the best and keep us informed. Things like the hotel your slept in, the price, the train ticket price etc. are all of good interest for those who are going.

Merry xmas to all!

Ok so here goes.

21/12 fri : reached aubagne at 350pm via train from marseille. Walked about 10mins to the camp, good walk to warm up. Reach at the gate about 405pm, surrender my passport, in 5mins a cpl chef came to bring me inside to a desk. Filing of my details, height, weight taken, he say my bmi was 18, min 20, bt he say doc will decide. 5 pullups needed, done. Then i emptied all belongings on table while the cpl chef assisted 2 moldovans after me, i was alone first. He took my phone, all paper money, credit card, ID, DL and kept in paper folder, coins i keep for coffee machine. Then he escorted us to the selection centre on a hill. Kept our bags in the cpl chef room, then ask to stay at paradise (compound for civillian). We can see blue and rouge outside paradise compound, can communicate with them bt discreetly, if caught will be told off by cpl chef or even legionnaire. Dinner at 6pm, after rouge and blue had their chow, cpl chef walked us to mess hall, next door building. Food was nice in my standard portion too bt we have to finish before the cpl chef stands up, if not, tough luck, never eaten so fast in my life lol. Sometimes he takes his time sometimes barely 5mins. Back to paradise, do nothing, mingle with the civil moldovans and a nepal until 9pm, took our bags, bedsheet given, double deck beds, shower, 930 lights out. Total civil : 4

22/12 sat : woke up at 645am, to find an indian has joined us while we slept so 5 of us now. Quick fresh up, no shower. Folded our blankets and bed sheets, all belongings in bag, line up in frnt cpl chef room to keep bag and our first of many corvee. Shower room, toilet, corridor. Then to paradise. 730am bfast. Only butter knife, bread, jam/butter/choc spread/honey and coffee machine drinks. Back to paradise, nothing until lunch, then dinner, then sleep. Total civil : 8

23/12 sun : same thing in morning, corvee. Lunch. Then computer test for 5 of us. 3 module, 24mins each module arnd 20 questions each.
First module : box test, angle view test
Second module : patterns and similarities test
Third module : numbers.
2 civils didnt make it (6 remains).walked out by cpl chef. Given legion name and dob. Dinner, sleep. 3 more civils join = 9

24/12 mon : 5am wake up. Corvee. Its a working day, camp filled with legionnaires of many ranks. Bfast. Then medical test
Urine test, colour test, bmi, vision, blood pressure, heart rate. Then a seperate medical officer of higher rank took us to check for flat or non flat foot, questions on past, motivation, previius health problems, take this or that before. Then joints check, ear checks, mouth and dental, balls check. Attractive lady officer and gentle too, my fren had a rough officer. And she look so young for a colonel. Just to mention.

Test result came out, they need an mri on my acl knee, can come back anytime, so thats that. Back to paradise. 5 who went medical earlier did physical luc leger and pull ups except me. Then lunch. After lunch i was given my bags and walked out of the gate. Then i realised jm still civil so i have to sort this mri myself. So walked to aubagne hosp about 15mins walk from camp, turns out mri takes 15 days. Short on liquide, i decided to fly back to malaysia earlier and get mri done at local hosp and flying back there again maybe late jan or early feb.

Add on notes :

Keep ur mouth shut. Talk discreetly among civils when out from paradise.

They will get physical and scream if dont undertand orders. No smiling no making faces in front of them. No sucking up.

If ure full, stuff ur food coz u will get hungry. Or if have anything to barter with blue or rouge for food or tabac even better. Blue and rouge has access to foyer.

When i say im from malaysia they make confused face. Either they dont know where it is or im just dumb enough to come this far lol

I think they ruled out many my sjort comings, mild colour blind, flat foot, bmi 18 min is 20. All they need now is the mri. Im feeling optimistic.

Legion is on slow until 10 jan, if wana enlist in december do it 2 or 3 weeks before xmas. Rouge will go castel after 10 jan. If come on weekend get ready to do nothing, sunday nite is good.

I think thats it for now ill add on more later.
