I've read where someone was saying that if the Foreign Legion has too many légionnaires from one single nationality then any engagés of that same nationality who show up at recruiting stations will be turned away. Does the Foreign Legion actually have "nationality quota limits"? What are the main nationalities in the Foreign Legion by percentage? Curious to know.

Well since the Berlin wall came down, the legion has been flooded with Eastern blocks. I couldn't really tell you if there is a quotq or not. It seems that a lot of Indians and Nepalese are interested nowadays.

The Nepalese? Really? If they want to join a foreign military service they can simply join the British Royal Gurkhas. Even India, a country that borders Nepal, has Gurkha regiments. Though the Brigade of Gurkhas has only one remaining rifle regiment garrisoned at Shorncliffe, Kent, UK, from its previous high of four rifle regiments.

Joining the Gurkhas is extremely difficult and is a very tough regiment to get into. They have a selection process in Nepal before they even apply to the UK.

Hi Leo, here is a documentary on joining the Gurkhas. When I was in Aldershot we would often see them in town. They had to be dressed spotlessly in in civvies wearing blazers. Very polite.
