Although it's in French the article speaks of a caporal-chef who is getting his French nationality of course, but also answers one or two members' question about joining the different clubs. The Legion will encourage you to participate in all kinds of physical activities.
Le petit caporal and a couple of other greens may remember the general Piquemal's cross-country team based in 1 RE. Alright most of them were not “real” legionnaires, but even still...
I'm not in any way insinuating that caporal-chef Veredamu is the same as them.
