Thought the thread was going somewhere but two of the protagonists exited. The best thread ever was the SexyArmy (USA) versus ExPongo (UK) battle it out around June 2011.
Jeezus that was funny.

Now I watch Fergie doing his best to get banned from Face Book by posting the most tasteless shit he can find. LOL

Speaking of Ex Pongo, I logged on just now for the first time in a long time, looking for him. I quit Facebook and I lost track of him. Has anyone heard from him lately?

Shit must be getting bad on the forum for Chas to call it quits.

Chas hasn't called it quits, he's taking time out for reasons which concerns only him. He's keeping a close eye on what is going on, believe me.

Yeah he's doing good, but I only keep in touch with him on fb. You can keep fb messenger to stay in touch with people while deactivating fb (not fully deleting it, you can reactivate but while deactivated no one can see your profile or pics or information). I take long breaks from fb but always keep messenger to stay in touch with friends.

Was thinking what the book was about, and why the writer didn't do his five years. An answer in a review from amazon.

https://www.amazon.co.uk/My-Camp-French-Foreign-Legion/dp/1521596875

I've read a few French Foreign Legion books over the last few years and I thought that this was another good account.
From Erwin Rosen's absolutely brutal time early in the 20th century (he understandably deserted) through Simon Murray's seminal 'Legionnaire' up to today's accounts.
Some made the best of it, some deserted. Jason manged to get himself kicked out through his drug use. The Legion seems to be a broken organisation relying on its reputation. The NCOs and officers use their rank to avoid all hard work and military responsibility. The ranks sleeping on guard duty (even in Afghanistan), no discipline unless someone is standing over them, peddling porn to the Afghan public, the list goes on. Jason himself says in his summing up that he thinks the Legion's future is uncertain, and that it probably won't exist in years to come in its present form, or indeed, if at all.
Jason's account takes you all the way through his training and admission into the Parachute Regiment and makes interesting reading.
This is a good book and I can recommend it.

I was wondering how he got kicked out, makes sense now. He did have “I smoke bongs like a beastâ€￾ on his profile description so I guess it doesn't surprise me, that he was kicked out for drug abuse.

Haha. Even on the book cover he looks high as kite. Whatever, he was chased away from this forum as he's been from Legion. I think it's a pity.

I thought that was what I was doing? Whether or not anyone agrees with the way in which I enjoyed my time in the Legion is an irrelevance to me.

Hey RMD. I thought you were in Jail. :D

Jail? Nah, the next best thing. I'm growing fat and bald in a house full of women.

The world's going ******* insane and I'm growing veggies in the garden. I'd give my left testicle for a Muslim to beat the Sharia out of.

Is Cervens worth the Log In these days?

Strangely when lucky and myself blew up the flagpole in Guyane, nothing really happened. There was two or three days of the Brits going to see Officers at the Bureau d'securite, no one got beaten up, and some Italian guy tried to own up but was dismissed straight away for being a tit. They knew it was the Brits but after a few days of keeping Schtum it sorted of faded away. We had a timer so once we set it, we legged to paranoid floyds room (PM) and he was witness to us being with him when it went off. Crazy days

Who is this 176607Mick ???

I'd heard a few years later whilst in Paris that 'this' person was "dining out on this "in the legion.
Claiming he blew the flag pole up.
There were 3 ,myself ASHLEY WILSON , Scouse and a 3rd , a big noting little toad who when things got a bit hairy bottled it.
Kevin Domingo (Scouse) will always be up there in my book , took a couple of beatings from Adjutant Schreiber and Le Captain Coates ,and told me (we were both en taule at the time ) that he didn't no if he could take another one. I owned up .
The other, whos name I refuse to remember, when I told him of the situation, just shit himself ,shook his head and walked away. I remember.
Well sir if, '176607Mick' or 'your partner in crime' is the third person -number and name would be about right, you've nothing to big note yourself about at all.
In fact if I were you, you legend, I'd be embarrassed in the way you conducted yourself then and afterwards.
Oh and by the way we didn't use timers, you f*cked about everyones alarm clock trying to make one. Just simple fuses
Surprised anyone got up on time after.

Scouse where ever you ,and I'm pretty sure you've been dead for a long time (hope I'm wrong), I tip my hat to you ,you were a tough, loyal and good friend .Respect

That is all.

Hi Ashley, are you sure that you're not getting the Guyane and the REP incident mixed up? Mick wasn't in the REP.

Hi Dusa, back in the days, the Brit mafia -all English speaking were considered to be Mafia Anglaise- were mainly made up of ex-military who worked well in their regiments and were looked favorably upon. Until, in the words of a very good friend of Alex (killer) Garrett, a true banane is never planned. Now this doesn't mean it wasn't discussed and organised, but no-one sat around a drawing board befoehand and said "what shall we do to draw as much attention to the Brit Mafia as we can"
It just happened after seeing the little green man swimming in the bottle of an empty Kronenbourg.
To answer your question Dusa, they were blown up with explosives.
