Hi, Jambo and welcome
1. Many Brits joined in my time, early 80's,mid 90's and as far as i know, lots less these days
2. Speaking french is obvisouly an advantage. Not speaking french is obvisouly a disavantage. .in theory !
Up to you to learn it and i advice you to learn ît fast as you can. ..it makes sense
3. After training and once in your new regiment, company, section and group. ..you are. ..mmm! (a dogs body, as well as the operational fonction you have been given .
4. Yes you can do sports in your own time
5. Instruction/ basic training is 4 months and it is best to prepare your self, before joining, being fit as much as you can be. .clear ?
6. It happens, but If you are a boxer, why care ?
7. Yes you can, officially, by denouncing your contract, or non officially, you desert
8. You have a home ? Lucky you, i suppose it is possible but am not a spécialiste on domestic drama
Bonne chance

Remember doing NI training in Germany in tin city the young lads that were to young to be deployed were the noisy paddy’s! We were out on the ground practicing our brick formations and P checking some of the young sprogs my Sgt decided to search 2 he found some gold seal (leb) was convinced it was planted for us to find we tried to sort of put him right but he was having none of it well as you can imagine 💩 hit the fan and the lad got a DD.
