I have heard of the Spanish legion but it looks sort of strange to me... Guy at 1:22 looks like he ate all the pies. So what is the general opinion on them? Given that a fair few Spanish join the FFL...

Some ridiculously derogatory comments have been deleted. The Spanish legion was created in the 1920s, on the same model as the French Foreign Legion and originally fought in Morocco in the Rif war. They are nicknamed Los novios de la Muerte (the fiancés of Death). As for the mascot, you band of uncultivated morons, must know that, even in the French army, North African troops used to have a bouc (male goat) or a bélier (ram) as a mascot. The Spanish legion served as a ‘shock’ troop for Franco during the Spanish civil war (1936-1939). Two big differences with the Legion: they don't take foreigners other than those from Spanish-speaking countries (essentially Latin America) and they accept women (as seen in the pictures above).
For the rest, a number of threads have been opened in the past about the Spanish legion. Those who want more (serious) information can refer to them or other sources on the web. No use to create an additional one, to post such type of comments. Sexpert... Je t'ai à l'oeil mon coco...
