Isn't DCXLVI in the 1 REG? He will probably miss out on these, having chosen to go to the support company. I have often said that the CCS or CCL or whatever it is called always has better looking grass, until it comes to getting a taste of action or just going to another country that you would more than likely never visit if you were not in (a company combat) the legion.

Depends on his function in the support company (ex C.C.S. @ our époque and IS now named the Compagnie de Logistique (s)
If my calcul (perso) IS near the mark...
A combat company prepared for deployment...usually leaves behind those who are inapt or for courses, spécialistes and rank....plus the disciplainaires..
Take out the fin de contracts...
10..15 % of thé original company are made up from extra muros
Mécanos, Coms, Cooks, Secrétaires, NBC, etc
Load of ' fayots get their gloire too
1 dosen't exclude the other
Plenty of beggars in the Légion...they usually speak french
Always the same...toxic fuds !

600 to Barkhane (advance group already there, Gao)
The Colonel Guerry, Chef de Corps du 2e REI, will take the command of the 'Groupement tactique Dragon', Mali

30 (+) to the Arab Emirates for désert combat training
Éléments will also be sent to Guyane and Mayotte

The Dragon d'Annam used to be our (2e REI) original insigne
The 2 REI is the oldest regiment of the Foreign Legion (created in 1841). It was the 2 R.E. who fought the battle of Camerone.

At the time of Camerone, it was simply Régiment étranger, a unit sent from Algeria, who's origin was the 2 RE. 1er RE was created much later as you correctly mentioned. Same for the regiment patch.

Yes but those legs are mine and serve me well, I’m no body builder but I am very motivated and determined. My friends call me chicken legs but all those friends eat my dust on our runs. My flight leaves the 20th of oct, I got a one way so failure isn’t an option. I haven’t done the Luc léger test yet I’ll download and test this week, what is a good number for me to strive for to put me at the front of the pack?
Hopefully you made because if you did, you should be close to being finished with basic.

May he rest in peace alongside his daughter.

For those that do not know St Joseph is one of the three islands that make up the Salvation's Islands (Îles du Salut), Île Royale and Devil's Island (Île du Diable) being the other two. The Legion has a centre de repos or a vacation centre on Joseph.

The Salvation's islands served for many years as a penal colony. L'Île du Diable became famous for being the place of detention of Capt Alfred Dreyfus in 1895-1899, after he was (unfairly) sentenced to life in prison for spying on behalf of Germany.

A must look

takes a bit of patience but look for these two albums
1. La Légion au fort des sables (old fort at Madama) with the 2e REP and Engineers rebuilding a new base and air strip near the Nigerien and Libyan border. Dozens of class photos.

2. “Les Commandos partent pour l'aventure” with the 27e BIM (Brigade d'Infanterie de Montagne, Mountain Infantry Brigade). 2e REG and the GCM (Groupement de Commandos de Montagne) which sergent-chef Andrei Jouk, recently killed in the helicopter collision in Mali, was a member of. Likewise, plenty of excellent photos(I think not downloadable).

Do you have a link to those photos? BTW, if you can not download something from the internet, you can use the snipping tool and save them to a folder or right click and copy to paste in a folder.
