I understand this is not open for discussion but there is a piece on there that interest me and here is the paragraph :

" The Legion is not like the SAS or the Navy SEALS, (nothing wrong with them) that are specialists in a narrow spectrum and incapable to operate outside their predefined sector. The Legion is soldiers, but also mechanics, cooks, cleaners, gardeners, painters, masons, you name it……
The Legion is a whole little universe on its own, and everybody inside this world is a legionnaire (except a very few civilian employees) and all of them have one day been standing outside the recruiting office with their heart knocking and knees shaking. "

Can you delve more into this on why this is so and what are the predefined sectors that these units have trouble operating in ?

I wouldn't agree. As for my insights in legion, that written is true. Joe, can we hear your precious opinion?

As for SAS, SEAL part don't know much but, I think he want to say that they are more combat oriented and there they also have specialty. You don't have that in FFL unless you are GCP.

Yes don’t get me wrong The Legion are Excellent at jungle Training.. Etc. I mean the Video with Adj Chef Lopez is Excellent. Definetly learn good sh$t from him. But comparing them to SF.. I don't think they Match The seals or SAS. Of course i could be wrong. I can't say for sure. But your average legion soldier is not SF. Joes is the expert i am the sexpert 😁.

Like i wrote before i trained some years back with a guy who passend SAS selection.. I was no where near his fitness running even though i was fit!.. I could run but He was another Level. I was happy being a normal soldier. I know 💯 %i would have passed The legions Tests but maybe would not have been selected who knows.

SAS, Seals, Marine Corps Forced Recon (Not Recon Battalion, they are just Super Grunts), and the Legion are first and Foremost members of their elite organization. The Legion has Cooks, Mechanics, Motor Transport, Comm, and Infantry.

In the USMC everyone and I do mean everyone is trained first as a Rifleman, Women and Men, then they move onto a specialty. All Marine Corps Units provide for their own security and operations. From what I understand, it is the same in the Legion, Legionnaire first, then a specialty occupation.

To be Forced Recon, EOD, or other type of Specialist in the USMC you have to pass selection, have a minimum time in grade, and rank. One does not go straight to Forced Recon and EOD. But in these units like Seals and SAS, they have people qualified in Comms, Vehicles, and so on. They are not all strictly "Shooters;" however, all are trained Shooters but they have differing functions on the team.

mrboxingfan2019 is simply a wind up man hoping that someone will take his bite.
I believe he has eaten all the cakes. ;)

As for SF it amuses me when the SAS always come to the fore. In the Falklands they were less than competent. They ignored the wisdom of the RM MAW Cadre to their chagrin causing substantial loss of life to their operators.

(Falklands war 2 April 1982 started.)

As a matter of fact the SBS are much more reserved, do not court publicity or write books when they leave. One exception is Duncan Falconer who did obtain permission to write. Unlike other SAS subsequently banned from the SF club and from entering the old Stirling Lines Hereford as persona non grata.

Now the SBS train regularly with the USN Seals and with other SF units worldwide. They have to pass joint SAS/SBS selection. Even when SAS badged they have to undertake SBS training at RM Poole to join and become fully badged. The course is very physically demanding Should they fail they can opt to Join the SAS. The SBS motto is 'Not by strength By guile.'

Many so called SAS ops which appear in the national press are in fact undertaken by the SBS. This suits them since they correctly shun publicity. Also during the campaign 'Down South' PM Margaret Thatcher preferred them for their quiet efficiency and professionalism.

RMs' at just under 4% of total Brit military manpower now provide 43% of all current SF badged operators. Just think of all the other units that send men to attempt selection.
