What are you on about?
Sorry, got confused for a second. Didn't realize that you mean 25k per annum of income. In this case yeah, you are correct. But if I am not mistaken, you still need to send them some sort of proof, like a tax paper / income declaration every year.

Doesnt everyone in the Legion get a new name on enlistment ? I cant imagine the half wits at Student Finance England getting their heads around that , I think its best not to mention it on applying and deal with it at a later date if your really want to , I cant see why you`d want to chase after a debt owed to a government ,it would not affect your credit rating in the future as its student finance, if you went back into civvy street in the UK you could say you were unable to communicate for five years which would no be far from the truth.
However any of this is unlikely to affect the OP as he claims to be a foreign national .

The forced name change is a total load of pish
It's nothing to do about protecting the legionnaire, but exagerating the mystical réputation and gives the officiers a kind of prestige in higher military circles
Back in the day. ..some one not rectified writing home to his parents or else, would have recieved punitions, the taule included
Nowadays the Legion pimps your arse to tv channels and You tube for royalties
Some legionnaires you can almost follow, from the day they walk thru the gate to the day they retire. ..pure commercialisation.
If true what they say, about not accepting wannabes who have blood crime or drug dealers. .shouldnt be no need for compolsery name change
Had a big laugth 1 day watching a documentary on TV
The Moroccoain dude giving the Gestapo interview, was 2 REI's biggest drug dealer ( coke and kif /haschich )

Good to know mate. The legion seem to chop and change with this eh? Heard this loads over the years on the forum. Its compulsory the its not...
It does seem to chop and change a bit, quite frankly I think it should be optional, but thats just my opinion. I dont think is as effective as it was in the past, especially with social media and the likes.
