This from BM:
Hi Joe,
Thanks very much for taking the time to reply to me I really appreciate it and I know I'm very lucky to have received a response from you, I'm very sorry for the time I made you wait on the response I had a close friend pass away and haven't been myself recently. I can't remember to the full extent what you wrote to me and there is no way to see it now whilst I'm replying.
I think you said option 1 was tell them you don't understand what the paper said and I think that is just what I'm gonna do. In my mind I think I will go back and tell them that if they ask I just hope it works I don't think they realised how much I needed to be there the time I spent from I got back in my eyes was just a lot more time wasted..
Although I have been keeping my fitness levels the same from I got back that's the only thing really helps when I'm down, I even got myself a dip station very similar to the ones you see in Fort de nogent it's in my room I use that pretty much everyday and I cycle a lot as well haven't been running much but I was the last guy in my group running in the beep test (close to level 10).
Anyway when will I go back I don't know if my life keeps going the way it is I'm thinking christmas time(hence the whole covid sh$t) because I don't want to spend another Christmas here alone and I think that would better my chances, I'll keep you updated on that (I'll mail you a few days or so before I decide to go). I'll give a little bit off what to expect now for the guys on the forum and also my question although you already did answer that and I have basically made up my mind about it. I'll put it below so you can copy & paste.
Hello legionnaires and wa@nkers I'm here to tell you about the time I spent trying to join the Legion around two years ago. I'll explain as best as I can although my memory is not the best...
Anyway let's cut to the chase this time two years ago the sh$t hit the fan and I basically lost everything that meant anything to me (I'll not go into to much detail here and it doesn't really matter either so no need to question that.) I found out about the Legion from a friend maybe two years prior to this and feel in love with it so it was always sort off a plan b In the back off my mind.
I wish I had found out about it a lot earlier. Anyway I spent about 6 months getting myself prepared I didn't even *&^%$ once in that 6 months neither the time I was there(I have a very high sex drive so you can't really get more disciplined although it did get easier after about 2 wks try it no fap),
I done all my training by myself so I didn't even know how fit I was but I have never been so fit in all my life I was cycling around 10 miles chaining my Bike up and jogging/running in the forest for a further hour then cycling a further 10 miles back home around 4 times per wk. I could perform around 15 pull ups(proper slow form which didn't even matter because the guy counting them was counting ones that shouldn't have counted anyway not my argument and don't bet on that you might not get so lucky).
I learnt myself some basic French not much but could count to 20 I could say left, right etc just real basic sh$t (regret not learning more and you will to so learn it)
Anyway I book my flight to Paris i arrive I get on the train I think it was pretty straight forward but I did have to ask for some directions and I got to a pub about 10 minutes from fort de nogent just down the hill (I don't even drink but decided a beer would help build up some courage before I knock on the door(I was pretty f*cked from one beer it felt good lol).
I go to the door knock on it produce passport go into a room on the left hand side there's another guy there doesn't speak a word of English he's on the same boat we wait and then the legionnaire who took are passports brings us up the stairs to the main hall. Where your room will be it was coming up to bed time when we got in and everyone was getting ready to go into their rooms I done my pull ups and wrote down why I wanted to be here, I only had about 20 euro and had to spend it on sandals etc actually just had enough lucky enough I thought I was getting sent away at that point(bring your own sh$t). They bring me to my room and the lads help me out show me what to do etc I got the top bonk up beside the window could see the gate where new recruits come in; nice view also with my new name I'm not telling you it. ..
Just be nice to the people around you would be my opinion they are most likely very similar to you although you most likely will find some people who annoys you or who you don't like just like you do everywhere. Just bite your tongue stay away.
Anyway let's cut to the crap we do all the fitness testing beep tests, medicals etc I pass all them I did struggle a bit on the swimming(something I didn't prepare for but still passed).
so I was there for about a week then we get taken to aubange with plane clothed legionnaires, when we arrived in aubange we all got a camo hat (this was taken back off us about 3 days later maybe shortage or something) a water bottle and other toiletries also a camo backpack with a number you need to remember it. When if you do arrive in aubange from Paris its not much different just a lot bigger and there's a lot more people mainly Eastern European (you'll enjoy their celebration when they find out who got selected
not bad people).
You won't be doing doing much, just regular routine. A bell sounds every so often and you have to line up then people get chosen to go to work.. I got selected for work in the kitchen a few times, I had to run around picking up acorns in the bin Hahaha fun times, me and another 4 guys Hungarian, Brazil, Tunisia and Mexican got lucky enough to go to a hotel off some sort for a few days (I think it's where you go when you pass training for a few days rest or whatever. You probably think I'm lying now I never heard off it before myself, it was an ex lieutenant he was Italian and another guy I think he was Russian, they were good to us, Nice people.
We didn't have to do much there just cleaning really we were well fed to I didn't know whether it was to break us or if it was genuine work lol..
So we get back and just time for gestapo meeting.. I got it easy in fact in there compared to other guys who would tell different story's (I'm saying nothing) anyway seemed all OK although I did have a bit of debt problems which I regret telling them because they weren't really relevant (debt gets wiped clean after 5 years here in northern Ireland and it is illegal for them to chase you or go to your home). So that was everything and then comes selection..
About 50 off us have are backpacks laid out and start calling are names in-lining us with are backpacks on the left and right side.. I thought I'd had made it from looking at the guys on my side and I was still determined. Next came the sad news we were going home, all us giving the same piece of (indefinate) <correct me on this. And 600 odd euro I wasn't happy with the outcome but kept my mouth shut and didn't question it: didn't really have the option to...
So two years later and I still think about it everyday my question(s) is to you, do you think it's worth my while even trying to back? , will this still be on the system, what way could I go about it? Do you know anybody who was in a similar situation and went on to pass? Thanks guys looking forward to hearing back, goodluck and best wishes.
Regards,
